Organ Transplant  Mr. Mitchell Stecker will introduce the congregation to the new organ in Sanner Chapel. Because of the organ’s location, this presentation will take place in Sanner Chapel. All other Faith for Today sessions will be in The Welcome Center.

Making Juneteenth a Holyday? Pittsburgh Anti-Racism Team co-chairs Rev. Don Blinn and Jay Pendleton will discuss the importance of making Juneteenth a day on versus a day off, and what actions may enhance the celebration of this historical milestone.

Refugee Crisis: Hello Neighbor and SHIM Sloane Davidson, Hello Neighbor founder and Courtney Macurak, South Hills Interfaith Movement program director will team up to speak about refugees and immigrants in the Pittsburgh area.

Fellowship of Christian Athletes   FCA’s mission is to engage, equip and empower local coaches and athletes to know and grow in Christ. Pittsburgh Metro Director Brian Cook will update us on local initiatives.

July 24  Rev. Larry Homitsky

United Methodist Church Union President Larry Homitsky will present current projects at Church Union, which has served the Pittsburgh area for 125 years, including services such as Daily Bread and the Manchester Reading program.

  

July 31  Dr. Steven Tuell

Why Should Christians Study the Old Testament?   Dr. Steven Tuell, retired professor of Old Testament at Pittsburgh Theological Seminary, will help us understand why the Old Testament is vital to understanding the New Testament.

August 7   Mr. Mitchell Stecker and Ms. Timothi Williams 

The Life, Legacy, and Music of H.T. Burleigh   Mr. Mitchell Stecker and UMC staff mezzo-soprano Ms. Timothi Williams will present a lecture-recital of the works of African American composer Harry Thacker Burleigh (1866-1949).

August 14   The Future of the United Methodist Church 

General Conference has been delayed again, and the Global Methodist denomination launched May 1, 2022. What does this mean for us as members of the UMC?

 

August 21   Dr. Amy-Jill Levine

The Difficult Words of Jesus   Dr. Amy-Jill Levine, retired professor of New Testament and Jewish Studies at Vanderbilt Divinity School, will discuss her book, “The Difficult Words of Jesus” via Zoom. She will conduct a question and answer session concerning this interesting topic.

August 28  MLUMC Youth Mission Trip

Youth and adults will share photos and reflections from the 2022 Youth Mission Trip to Marion, Virginia.
