Youth Group, Programs and Events

“And whoever welcomes one such child in my name welcomes me” – Matthew 18:5

Children are a focal point of our congregation at Mt. Lebanon United Methodist Church. In addition to Sunday School classes, we offer programs for youth to enrich their Christian faith and fellowship.

Youth Group

Consisting of children aged 6th grade through 12th grade, our Youth Group meets at 5 p.m. each Sunday evening at the Church. Our youth build lasting friendships, grow as Christians through fellowship and participate in service projects within the Church and in our communities.

At the start of each school year, our Youth Group campaign commences with the Fall Kickoff Event, a cookout with burgers, hot dogs, games and fellowship.

During the colder months, our Youth Group goes on a Winter Retreat. At the retreat, the youth strengthen their faith and enjoy a range of activities. Jumonville Christian Camp and Retreat Center has been one of the prior destinations for our Winter Retreat.

Each summer, our Youth Group dedicates one week for a Summer Mission Trip, traveling anywhere from Ohio to Virginia to share the love of God through their work and care for others. Past projects have consisted of home restoration, daycare support and serving food for people in need.

Other missions the Youth Group has undertaken include the 30 Hour Famine, a program designed to raise money to fight world hunger, and Homeless Night, where youth first-hand discover the struggles of spending a night without shelter. During each of these missions, the youth may also participate in a community service project.

Our Youth Group also has field trips throughout the year. Prior destinations include the Carnegie Museum of Natural History and Flight Trampoline Park.

Dames in Action

Dames in Action, a circle of the United Methodist Women, consists of ladies aged 6th grade through 12th grade who support different missions within the Church. Directed and led by the ladies themselves, Dames in Action has helped with the Mt. Lebanon United Methodist Church Food Pantry, Family Promise program and fundraisers that raise money for missions, along with other projects.
