Giving

“Each one should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.” – 2 Corinthians 9:7

As members of Christ’s Holy Church, we are called to give back in response to the many blessings we have received from God. This response as United Methodists can take many forms, including our prayers, our presence, our gifts, our services and our witness. The Bible is clear that the best way to respond to God’s generosity is through some generous giving of our own.

Where would our church be today without the fine example of our forbearers in the faith, whose generous response to God’s call has laid the foundation for our ministries today? Now it is our turn to lay the foundation for present and future ministry in this place. History and Scripture are both very clear – if you want to grow spiritually, then you must be generous in your giving. This is the best way to give our thanks. “Each of you must give,” says Paul, “as each of you has made up your mind.”

No matter your way of giving, we are thankful for your support of Mount Lebanon United Methodist Church!

Ways to give at MLUMC

Prayers

The power of prayer binds us as a community. Connect with God and your church family on your own or through our spiritual life and prayer ministries. Our church has an active prayer chain, that may be accessed by e-mail or telephone. To volunteer as a prayer chain participant, or to submit a need for prayer, please contact the church office at churchsecretary@mlumc.org or 412-531-7131.

Presence

Time is one of the most precious gifts we have from God. Using this time in God’s Work can be a blessing to others, as well as ourselves. We often speak of “the ministry of presence,” and would encourage you to join us in that work.

Mount Lebanon United Methodist Church offers multiple ways for you to offer your presence to others; whether that’s through prayer in community with our church family, or through presence in worship or service in our ministries. You may always e-mail Pastor Tom at tstrandburg@mlumc.org for more information, or to volunteer.

Gifts

Mount Lebanon United Methodist Church provides many ways for you to contribute your gifts and donations. Traditional offerings are accepted in worship. We also provide direct debit services for those wishing to have your gift debited from a bank account. Additionally, our church offers online giving, which allows you to make contributions to our church without writing checks or worrying about cash donations. You can make a mobile donation by texting MLUMC to 73256 or use our online donation website.*

Our online donation website allows you to make one-time donations and also set up automatic contributions with an account. Service

With over 100 ministries, there are multiple ways that you can serve and be active according to your personal calling and interests. We have service opportunities targeting our church members and friends such as weekly Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. Our youth group takes summer mission trips, traveling to serve neighbors from Ohio to Virginia. Other opportunities lie in our vibrant United Methodist Women’s group or the Hands and Hearts in Mission group. We have a Thanksgiving Day Ministry that serves over 1,000 Thanksgiving meals to those in need in our community each fall along with a strong Food Pantry program that provides food to our neighbors all year round. Other service opportunities reach communities worldwide, including an annual mission trip to the country of Haiti and an ongoing effort to help the people of Zimbabwe.

Witness

As he left this earth following the resurrection, Jesus blessed his followers with these words: But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” (Acts 1:8) Our church believes that we are all called to be “witnesses.” A witness is someone who tells others what he or she has experienced. A Christian witness is someone who tells others about their experiences of the love of God in Christ. We try to do this, as we accomplish every work of ministry and service that you will find at Mount Lebanon United Methodist Church. We even engage in the ministry of witness with the help of partner churches around the world. For example, our church has enjoyed a partnership with a United Methodist congregation in eastern Germany for more than 20 years. Such partnerships serve as a witness to the world of our unity in Christ. Closer to home, we regularly invite our community to share a free meal, to attend a free community festival, and to join us in worship. During all of these events, we extend our Christian witness. Would you like to join us? Please contact our Outreach & Community Events Team for local witness opportunities, or our Missions Team for our international work.
