From local restaurants to a sister church in Germany, Mt. Lebanon United Methodist Church has partnerships across the globe. These connections help us serve our local and global communities.

Zwickau,

Germany

Mt. Lebanon has had a partnership with the Friedenskirche in Zwickau in eastern Germany since 1995, essentially since the fall of the Wall. A multi-generational group of about 20 people visits each other every other year. The host church members provide room and board, and the church offers mission work opportunities and cultural excursions. When we are together, we always learn from each other, and the friendships we form!

THE Nyadire Connection

Founded in 2006, The Nyadire Connection (TNC) is a faith-based, non-profit organization that seeks to support and sustain the Nyadire United Methodist Mission in northeastern Zimbabwe, Africa. MLUMC is one of the Foundational Methodist churches that financially and energetically supports TNC.

Northside Lunch

MLUMC has worked with UMC's "Daily Bread" to provide a hot meal to the food insecure, homeless or anyone in need of a hot meal for over 40 years. Once a month, volunteers prepare and serve a hot, nutritious lunch as part of "Daily Bread" meal program on Pittsburgh's Northside. Volunteers work to prepare lunch first Wednesday of every month. The next day, volunteers gather at the church to load the food into our cars and take it to "Daily Bread", where we work with them to serve it.

Food lift

365 days a year, Food Lift volunteers arrive at participating grocery stores and bakeries at closing time or early the next morning. Baked goods and produce are packed in boxes and bags and loaded into volunteers' vehicles. Once the food is loaded into a vehicle, the volunteers then deliver the food to shelters and pantries, where hungry people and rehabilitating residents are given food and served meals.

GLOBAL Mission Trips

Zwickau 2027

Sign-ups and planning for our summer 2027 trip to Zwickau will begin mid-2026. We usually spend about 10 days with our Zwickau partners and then add some days in other areas of Germany such as Munich, Cologne, or Berlin.  Is German required?? Not really! Most of the Germans speak conversational English, although the trip is a great way to practice any German you might have. Plan ahead now to join us in 2027!
